Legendary rapper DMX, originally from Yonkers, NY, is officially a free man after serving 8-months of incarceration. He was released yesterday (7/19/2011) from prison in Yuma, Arizona. He told reporters from Allhiphop.com (big-up!) that his first stop would be to visit his probation officer, next a small shopping trip, and then directly to a recording studio. DMX who has lived in Maricopa County in central Arizona since 2006 stated that he has already spoken on the phone with his ex-wife and youngest daughter, and can't wait to go home. DMX, born as Earl Simmons, was originally sentenced to 11-months in prison back in December 2010 for violating his probation with a multitude of traffic infractions and failing to submit to a drug test. The sentence could have been as short as 6-months, was increased for 2 more months because of DMX's repeated violations of smoking in a designated area, and his involvement in helping others sneak in drugs.
